There are eight species or subspecies of wild cat in temperate Europe and Asia. We have a separate fact sheet for the highly endangered Asiatic Cheetah due to their very unique, localized conservation problems. The Tiger also ranges much further south into the tropical jungles, but the large Siberian Tigers are found in Russia and China.
